Seeding the Meet
Seeding is an automatic way for you to have WinSwim to order the entries and assign heat, lane and leg. The process of using seeding is to select the options, pick lanes if using Dual Seeding and the either select all events or just some of the events. Lastly, press the Seed button.
Events
The events tab is used to select the events you want to seed. The easy approach is just to press the Select all and select all of the events. Or, just pick the ones you want to seed by checking the Seed checkbox by the event.
Lanes
The lanes tab is used to associate a team to a particular lane when using the Dual Seeding option. This is what you would use to assign a host team the even lanes and the visiting lane the odd lanes. Or, any combination you would like. It is also used to select the order of lane assignments based on the fastest time. Typically, for a 6 lane pool the order would be 3-4-2-5-1-6.
Options
You basically have two options. You can use the Timed Finals Seeding or the Dual Seeding. If your rules say put a particular team in specific lanes, you need to pick Dual Seeding. If just put the fastest swimmers together in the first heats, no matter the team; pick the Timed Finals Seeding.
Timed Finals Seeding
This option is the default and puts the fastest swimmers based on SeedTime into the early heats.
Circle Seeding (NOT IMPLEMENTED)
Used only in the prelims of Championship meets with events that have "prelims & finals". This affects only the top 24 seeded swimmers (8 lane pool) which compete in the last 3 heats. All other heats are regular seeding. Circle seeding goes like this: The fastest seeded swimmer will be in the last heat in lane 4. The second fastest swimmer will be in the second to last heat lane 4. The third fastest swimmer will be in the third to last heat lane 4. The fourth fastest swimmer will be in the last heat lane 5 and so on. The finals are seeded like a regular meet as are any events that are swam as timed finals such as relays, distance freestyles and other events most often held on Friday evening as a timed finals session.
Dual Seeding
When selecting the Dual Seeding this is used in conjunction with assigning lanes to teams. You need to go to the Lane tab and set a team for each lane used.
Fill empty lanes with other teams
This will cause the seeding to fill up empty lanes even if you use lanes assigned to other teams. At first seeding will follow the rules specified by the seeding choice, then it will go through and fill up the empty lanes.
