From Winswimwiki
The objective is to describe the default tables
Contents |
Defaults
Cntry
This is informational and specified in the Members, Teams and Meets tables to specify the country of origin.
Grade
This is infomrational and used in the Members table to specify the school grade of a swimmer.
LSC
This in informational in the Teams table and used for USA Swimming registration and for SDIF data exported.
Registration
These are tied to logic in assigning different formats for IDNumber in the Members table. This is specified in Teams table and used in Members when it assigns or creates an IDNumber. If you set this to the None value, then you can manually assign any value in the IDNumber for each swimmer.
Organization
These are informational and in the Team table.
Sex
You can change the SexDesc, but DO NOT change anything else as the Sex value 0, 1, 2 is embedded into the software!!!
State
These are the State codes used in the Members, Teams and Meets. They are informational and can show up on mailing labels and some reports.
Type
These codes are informational in the Meet table.
Meet Characteristics
Review some of the defaults used to set policy for your meets. These policies are located at the menu Edit -> Meet Characteristics -> {AgeGroup, Points, and Strokes} and Edit->Defaults->Sessions dialogs.
Data grid dialogs are MS Excel-like grids where you can add, delete & change data. Columns that are lightly grayed out are read-only and not editable.
AgeGroup
Review the entries and make sure you have all your age groups defined correctly for your swim meets. There is an AgeGroup column which should have 0 thru the # you have, MinAge of the age group, MaxAge of the age group and a description. Ignore the CTSKey as this is for Colorado Timing consoles. If you see all the age groups, review and modify the AgeGroupDesc as necessary.
The MaxTotalHeats and MaxReservedHeats is used when the entries verify report is run. It will add up the number of entries a swimmer is participating and if the number exceeds these limits then a error will be displayed on the verify report. This will not inhibit any processing, just a method to display a error message in a report. See manual section on Entries Explorer for more information on the verify report.
Warning: DO NOT delete entries from this policy after you start creating meet entries and results as constraints (i.e. AgeGroup) to this policy is contained in the meet entries and results. If you change the meaning of an AgeGroup after you have created entries then the entries are changed with it.

Points
To configure the points that are assessed for events, you need to configure the Points table. This provides the ability to set the points for each lane, session, event type configuration. You can also exclude lanes from assessing points by specifying the lanes in the ExcludeLanes column by listing the lanes separated by a comma. As example to exclude lanes 1 and 8, you would enter '1,8'.
As an example, for a 4 lane pool configuration for individual events you would modify the "PID=4" row below. For the 1st place : 5 points, 2nd place : 3 points and 3rd place : 1 point you would enter '5,3,1' into the Points column.
Sessions
This is a grouping for events and is the normal values set by USA Swimming so there should be no need to change the Bracket descriptions. Ignore the CTSKey as this is for Colorado Timing consoles. Then, change AddPoints to Yes or No to accumulate team points for these brackets. If unsure, make all of them Yes.
Warning: DO NOT delete entries from this policy after you start creating meet entries and results as constraints (i.e. references) to this policy is contained in the meet entries and results.
Strokes
This policy contains all the event swimming strokes that will be in the meet events. These are the typical strokes you would anticipate consisting of Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, IM, Medley, Relay and diving. These descriptions can be changed and additional strokes can be created.
Warning: DO NOT delete entries from this policy after you start creating meet entries and results as constraints (i.e. references) to this policy is contained in the meet entries and results.
